What are Ladoo/ Laddu?
Ladoo/
Laddu are Indian Traditional Sweets. Made and served on special occasion like
Festivals, Prashad, Weddings, and Birth and so on... Ladoo/ Laddu are also made
for health reasons e.g. eyes, hair, weight gain, immunity, etc.

is an easy besan ladoo recipe.

get started with our Recipe:
What
you'll need for besan ladoo recipe?
Ingredients:
- 4 Cups Besan (Chickpea flour/ Gram flour/ Garbanzo bean flour)
- ⅔ to 1 Cup Ghee,
- 1 ½ Cup Powdered Sugar or Boora,
- 6- 7
Almonds,
- 15-20
Raisins,
- 1 Tbsp Cardamom Powdered,
- 1 Tbsp Poppy Seeds.
Preparation
Method:
·
On low heat add Besan in the pan and continuously stir
it (Gram flour is likely to burn fast)
·
After 15 minutes Color will start changing from pale
yellow to deep pale yellow.
·
When flour is roasted it will leave a nutty
fragrance.
·
Then you just have to add Ghee,
·
Switch off the flame,
·
Mix Flour and ghee well, It will look a bit runny consistency, (Don’t worry)
·
Add 1 Tbsp Powdered Cardamom and 10-15 Raisins,
·
Add powdered sugar gradually, (you will see consistency
getting thick)
·
Mix all ingredients with spatula to avoid lumps, …and MIX,MIX, MIX,
·
Allow the mixture to cool or 15-20 minutes,
·
Take Poppy Seeds in a plate and spread it,
·
Take a spoonful of the mixture and press it with one
hand to remove air pockets,
·
Shape them into balls, (Ladoo/Laddu)
·
Now roll it in poppy seeds,
·
Place Almond on top of ladoo to decorate,
Make all Ladoo/Laddu and garnish with Almond or Raisins.
*Makes 17-18 Ladoo/Laddu.
Calories in 1 besan ladoo is approximately 215 for my recipe.
Tips
and suggestions.
Ø How to make besan ladoo without ghee?
Instead of ghee add 1 cup
of low fat milk and cook well till all the milk is absorbed, but still in a
paste like consistency.
Ø How to make ladoo/ laddu?
Take small portion in one
hand and press down to remove air pockets, now with both hands roll it besan ladoo/ laddu is ready.
Ø Is it
called besan laddoo ?
No,
it can be called ladoo/ laddu.
Ø Besan ladoo with jaggery?
You can replace sugar with
jaggery
In a separate pan heat ghee and add jaggery till it
melts. Switch the flame off add gram flour and mix well. (There are chances of
lump forming so you need to kneed it with your palm)
Ø Difficult
to make ladoo/ laddu after
cooled down?
Put it in refrigerator for few minutes to solidify
ghee, this will help to hold the ladoo firm.
Ø ladoo/ laddu breaks or its too dry?
Add
1 to 2 spoons of melted ghee into the mixture.
